We finally were able to take Joel sailing! Our motor has been in the shop and "ready next week" all summer long. We can't get out of the harbor safely without a motor, so we have not been out of the "big boat." Jason and I have taken turns sailing the sunfish all summer which is a blast, but I did not want to Joel out on it.
A friend from the sail club invited us out on his boat today. Joel took a nice nap in the cabin at first, but then he really enjoyed sitting in the cockpit watch Daddy at the helm. What an awesome day. I am so glad he had to the chance to do that before his first birthday.

Sounds like a lot of fun! Since we're not near the ocean here we are going to have to change our water sports to lake-oriented stuff. Maybe boating is just the thing we need...
